Tirupati: Lakhs of devotees trek Tirumala hills seeking Lord Balaji's blessings for fulfilling their wishes. A techie from Bengaluru on Sunday launched trekking Tirumala hills on knees demanding the Narendra Modi-led NDA government to confer Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh (AP).

Dhanumjaya Reddy, working as a software engineer at TCS in Bengaluru, started the trek seven hills on his knees. Reddy spoke to the media at Alipiri before commencing his treking on his knees.

Reddy hails from Rayachoty in Kadapa district. He had earlier also trekked Tirumala hills on his knees praying for YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to become the Chief Minister of the State.

Reddy said that his trek was only to remind the Centre of the assurance on special status as the promise made by Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate at the Lord Venkateswara temple.

He further said that his ‘mokalla yatra’ attempt was purely reminding the Centre of its assurance on special status and seek blessings of Lord Balaji. It's not meant for publicity nor to create a sensation. "I want to highlight the double-speak attitude of politicians and central ministers on special status to AP," he said.
