Slain Maoists’ Families Cremate Bodies At Native Villages

Hyderabad: Revolutionary poet, balladeer Gaddar warned the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments against killing of Maoists in the name encounters and demanded that the chief ministers of both the states explain on the fake encounters on Andhra-Odisha border.

Gaddar paid tributes to Prabhakar alias Gangadhar, one of the 24 Maoists killed in the encounter, at his native place Yapral near the city, before the body was cremated. After working with Prajaa Kala Mandali as a cultural artiste for several years, Prabhakar went underground about three years ago to work for the organization as a full-timer. His wife brought the body from Malkangiri in Odisha.

Maoist top leader Ramakrishna's son Akkiraju Pruthvi alias Munna's body was brought by family to Alakurupadu in Prakasham district. RK's wife Sirisha said she was proud of her son's sacrifice for the downtrodden and the oppressed. She said it was a brutal murder by the government and added that as long as there are problems in society, revolutionaries will continue to fight for the people.

Most of the 24 slain Maoists' bodies are still with police as families did not approach them. Another four were killed on Wednesday and two on Thursday. The situation in the encounter site is still tense and combing operation was continuing to nab the injured Maoists.
