Siddhramaiah Caught In An Embarrassing Situation

A Chinese delegation from Sichuan met Karnataka chief minister  - Sakshi Post

The Karnataka chief minister Siddharamaiah was caught in an embarrassing faux pas on Thursday when he misspelled the name of the Chinese province his business guests hailed from. Instead of 'Sichuan' he typed in 'Siachen' on Twitter.

While Sichuan is the province that the Chinese delegation had come from, Siachen is the Indian glacier, parts of which are being claimed by Pakistan. It is in Siachen where India maintains a military outpost, the highest military outpost anywhere in the world.

The spelling mistake could perhaps be attributed to an automatic spellchek found on most applications. It might even have been an honest mistake, however coming from the official twitter account of an Indian chief minister, the error lends itself to a lot of embarrassment and ridicule.

The tweet was promptly deleted once the error was pointed out.
