Sharmila’s marathon yatra reaches 2000-km mark - Sakshi Post

Ravikampadu, a tiny village in Kamavarappadu mandal of Chintalapudi assembly constituency in West Godavari district has a spectacular event on Thursday evening as scores of people converged to have a glimpse of their leader.

Sharmila, daughter of Later YS Rajasekhar Reddy and sister of YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, completed glorious 2000-KM mark of marathon padayatra. The village turned out to be a sea of people as YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma and a galaxy of leaders attended the meeting in huge numbers. Slogans like “Jai Jagan” reverberated the area. 

To mark the completion of 2000-KM mark, Sharmila unveiled the statue of YSR at the heart of the village amid uproar from the thousands of followers and supporters of Jagan Mohan Reddy. Earlier, she was accorded a tumultuous welcome when she entered the village. 

The “Maro Praja Prasthanam” which commenced on October 18 at Idupulapaya in YSR Kadapa district, covered 68 assembly constituencies in 10 districts. Sharmila completed 100-KM at Pedakotla village in Anantapur district, 500-KM mark at Konkala in Mahaboobnagar district, 1000-KM at Kondrapolu in Nalgonda district and 1500-KM at Pedana in Krishna district. 

Speaking on the occasion, Sharmila said she completed the 2000-KM mark only with the encouragement from the people. She said the Congress government was using CBI as a weapon against her brother Jagan. The UPA government instigated CBI after he decided to quit Congress, she said and accused Congress and TDP for hatching conspiracies against Jagan by colluding each other.
