Shankar Rao's daughter-in-law withdraws dowry harassment case
Former minister Shankar Rao is a happy man and can't stop smiling. It may be recalled that the Cantonment MLA was arrested in connection with a dowry harassment case filed against him by his daughter-in-law, Vamsi Priya.
In a new twist to the case, Vamsi Priya filed a writ petition in the High Court withdrawing the case she filed against her father in-law. The court dismissed the petition.
Alleging that Shankar Rao and his family members harassed her and treated her in an inhuman way for dowry, she had filed a petiiton in the High Court. She had approached the court seeking action against Shankar Rao for allegedly harassing her.
Based on the complaint, the CSS police had arrested Rao. What followed that was high voltage drama. Shankar Rao fell unconscious soon after he reached the police station. Police shifted him to a hospital where he is undergoing treatment now.
Now, with the case withdrawn, Shankar Rao's smiles are back on his face. However, there are several other cases pending against him. It is learnt that some middle man requested Vamsi Priya to withdraw the case.
It remains to be seen if police will take him into their custody for other cases filed against him.
