Seven of family dead as lorry rams auto

Residents of Sanigapur, a village in Adilabad District are in a state of shock following a tragic road accident that killed seven members of a family belonging to the village.

Seven persons including a child were killed and ten others sustained serious injuries when the auto they were traveling in was hit by a speeding lorry near Sanigapur on the national highway between Nirmal and Bimsa on Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred when a lorry rammed in to the auto moving towards Laxmanchanda mandal. The members of the  family were on way to attend a function at their relative’s home in Mallapur when the accident happened.

“The auto was overcrowded and the driver was not able to control it in time to prevent it from hitting the lorry”, a witness to the accident said.

The injured were admitted to near by hospital. All the bodies have been sent to government hospital for postmortem.

The police have registered a case and are investigating.
