'Sentiments of people will be hurt if airport's name is changed'
Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah wrote separate letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana chief minister-in-waiting K.Chandrasekhar Rao asking them not to rename the Shamshabad Airport, which is named after Rajiv Gandhi.
Ponnala informed Modi that the sentiments of people would be hurt if the airport is renamed. “Serious disputes may arise between both the states if the name is changed,” said Ponnala.
“We have no objection for naming any new airport in Andhra Pradesh after N.T.Rama Rao,” said Ponnala.
In his letter to KCR, Ponnala asked him to install the statues of prominent personalities of Telangana region on tank bund in Hyderabad.
“The statues of Kaloji Narayana Rao, Prof.Jayasankar, Konda Laxman Bapuji, Chakali Ilamma, Doddi Komaraiah, Srikantha Chary and others must be installed on tank bund,” Ponnala requested KCR.
Ponnala told KCR that Congress would take the initiative of installing the statues there if state government had any problem to do so.
