Seemandhra snubs Congress chief Sonia Gandhi
Congress rally on Friday in Guntur would have been an eye opener of sorts for party president Sonia Gandhi, who would have witnessed, first hand, the dismal prospects of the grand old party in the region.
During her maiden visit to Guntur in Seemandhra region after state bifurcation, Sonia was greeted by an extremely poor turnout.
Addressing a skeleton turnout Sonia tried to motivate her cadre and public by tearing into her opposition TDP-BJP combine in the state, at Andhra Muslim College grounds on the Ponnuru road in Guntur.
This turnout seems even stark when compared to the rousing welcome that Congress nemesis, Narendra Modi got when the latter visited Guntur.
As per reports, many people were seen leaving the rally as soon as Sonia started addressing the crow. However, Sonia went ahead with her speech.
"My party is committed to protecting physical, social, cultural and financial interests of every single person from Seemandhra residing in Hyderabad," she said.
