Sammakka Will Arrive In Medaram This Evening
The mood is upbeat at Medaram where Asia's biggest tribal festival, Sammakka Saralamma Jatara kicked off to a colourful note yesterday. Late in the night, the tribal priest brought Saralamma in the form of a vermilion from its shrine in the forest.
Lakhs of people witnessed the arrival of Saralamma last night. And today, a large number of devotees are waiting to watch the arrival of Sammakka, who will be placed at Medaram after the arrival of full moon in the sky. Massive security arrangements have been made for the festival. The head priest of the shrine, which is located inside the Eturunagaram forest, will accompany Sammakka who will appear in the form of kumkum.
By tonight both the goddesses will be at Medaram to bless the devotees. The rush to Medaram is likely to go up two-fold tomorrow and Saturday. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu are likely to visit tomorrow.
