Rosaiah pays homage to Tangaturi Prakasam

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today paid homage to freedom fighter Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu on the occasion of his 140th Jayanthi Day.

Hailing Pantulu as a great freedom fighter in India's independence struggle, Rosaiah said the former had stood in the forefront particularly in the Quit India Movement in 1942.
His bravery struck the people of this country and endeared him to them, he pointed out. "He underwent imprisonment for a long time for the sake of our nation's  independence and helped free it from foreign yoke", he said, recalling that Prakasam later acted as Chief Minister of the Joint Madras State besides serving as Chief Minister of the State of Andhra with Kurnool as the interim capital.
"On the occasion of his 140th Jayanthi Day, I pay my homage and respects to the great leader late Prakasam Pantulu", he said in a Raj Bhavan statement.
