‘Road Transport Authority In AP Is Corrupt’

Kesineni Nani - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: The Road Transport Authority (RTA) in Andhra Pradesh is corrupt to the extent that they are permitting the plying of buses registered in other states, member of Parliament Kesineni Nani said.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, he said 900 buses plying in Andhra Pradesh were actually registered in Arunachal Pradesh. "Their registration was cancelled by the Arunachal Pradesh government, yet they are plying here and the RTA officials are not taking any action," he said.

"I have written a letter to this effect to the authorities in Arunachal Pradesh and to the Union home ministry. They have responded acknowledging the issue but the RTA officials here are turning a blind eye. The entire RTA department is corrupt," Nani said. He expressed anguish at the apathy of the RTA which is resulting in losses to private bus operators.
