Revoke suspension of Dalit students, YS Jagan tells UoH VC - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said that University of Hyderabad vice chancellor was to be blamed for the incident. He said the authorities should lift the suspension of the other four students, who have been suspended. He said he would visit the UoH to meet the other four students, who are still on a protest demanding revocation of suspension.

YS Jagan went over to the Uppal residence of University of Hyderabad research scholar Rohit Vemula and consoled his mother V Radhika. Former minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy also accompanied YS Jagan.

He enquired about the incident and events leading to the tragedy from Rohit's mother. He assured all possible help from the YSR Congress party to the bereaved family. He expressed his anguish over the incident and voiced his concern against caste system renting the University campus.

Rohit's mother said her son was not a coward who would commit suicide and said her son was a merit student.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, YS Jagan spoke to the family members of deceased research scholar Rohit Vemula over phone and consoled them.

The YSR Congress has demanded a high level probe into the circumstances leading to the suicide of the Hyderabad Central University Dalit student Rohit and said that all those responsible for that act, irrespective of their social standing, should be arrested.
