Rape accused fined Rs 5 lakh by village heads

An accused of rape of minor girl who was also responsible for her pregnancy was imposed a penalty of Rs 5 lakhs by village heads.

The barbaric incident took place at Chukkaraopalli in Sirisilla mandal of Karimnagar district. According to belated reports, Kuntaiah, the accused allegedly raped the minor girl of the village and she got pregnancy. In a bid to punish Kuntaiah, the village heads fixed a price for her chastity and imposed fine. Alerted by the incident, police reached the village and took Kuntaiah into custody.
