A 71-year-old retired government employee's body was found in a decomposed state in his flat at LB Nagar in the city on Friday. Lakshmi Narayana Murthy, the deceased, was staying in his flat all by himself for some time and is believed to have died about a month ago in his flat in Sai Residency Apartments.

Murthy, a native of Rajahmundry, was staying in his flat was staying all by himself, as his wife had gone to the US to visit their daughters. He reportedly stepped on a lizard accidentally and is presumed to have reacted in fright. As a result he fell down and sustained serious head injury. He slipped into coma and with no one was around to help him, and is believed to have succumbed to his injury.

As their phone calls went unanswered, his wife and daughters grew suspicious and returned to the city after a month on Friday morning only to find the body in a decomposed condition.

Shockingly, none of the residents in the residential complex tried to find out the reason for the bad odour that was emanating from the locked flat for a whole month. Oddly enough, Murthy’s family also did not make any efforts to send someone to the flat to find out about him. He is survived by his wife and two daughters who live in the USA.
