Amethi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was obstructed by some daily wage labourer women during his visit to his constituency of Amethi on Friday demanding a hike in their daily wages.

This is the second time Rahul’s convoy was stopped by crowds in the last two days. Rahul’s car was stopped on its way to GauriGanj town. Though the police tried to disperse the crowd, the women dug in their heels. Then the Congress leader got down from his car and walked up to the sloganeering women.

Later, Rahul listened to their demands and promised to take up the issue. On the previous day, the Congress vice-president faced an embarrassing situation as the supporters of party leader KL Sharma staged a protest against the latter’s sacking from his position in Uttar Pradesh.
