Purandeswari shocks Cong, her supporters snub her - Sakshi Post

Ending all speculations, former central minister Daggubati Purandeswari and her husband, who were oscillating between joining TDP and BJP, have chosen the latter. Purandeswari  will be leaving to Delhi on Friday to join BJP in the presence of senior leaders like Sushma Swaraj and LK Advani.

Purandeswari and her husband Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao took this decision in the meeting held with their supporters and Vishakapatnam MLAs at their residence, Thursday.

The meeting was not devoid of drama, with some supporters being miffed with the duo for joining BJP which supported Telangana Bill in the Parliament. One of the MLAs from Vishakapatnam reportedly left the meeting in the middle.

However, in spite of dissidence, Purandeswari decided to go ahead and join BJP, as she is aware that Congress will face a grim election in Seemandhra.

It is learnt that some of her supporters have decided not to follow her in the future.

Purandeswari who is currently a member of Lok Sabha from Visakhapatnam is keen to contest again from the same constituency.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, she said " I am going to Delhi tomorrow to meet BJP senior leaders Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitely."

She also said that the Congress High Command has not taken into consideration, the demands of  Seemandhra Union Ministers and that she was pained by the way the division took place.

" First I decided to quit politics as I have served for 10 years. But my supporters and family members are forced me to stay back," she said.

Interestingly, she said that she was irritated by the developments over contesting for Vizag MP. It appeared that she was referring to the rift that took place between her and Rajya Sabha member T. Subba Rami Reddy who also tried for Vizag MP seat.
