Public Money Being Wasted on Temporary Capital: YSRCP
Mangalagiri: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is wasting crores of rupees for a temporary capital while promising a new capital city by 2018, YSR Congress MLA Alla Rama Krishna Reddy said.
Addressing the media here on Friday, the MLA questioned the need for a temporary capital for a two-year period that would require Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 crores when the Chief Minister has promised completion of a major chunk of the new capital city of Amaravathi by 2018. "The Chief Minister's statements that there is a dearth of funds to take up welfare measures falls flat in view of crores being spent for the temporary capital," he said. "What is the need for a temporary capital when Hyderabad can be used as a joint capital for 10 years," he asked while adding that existing government offices in Guntur and Vijayawada can also be used to house the temporary capital.
The YSR Congress MLA pointed out that the State government has increased the land requirement for the temporary capital from 20 acres to 45 acres, while hinting that the increase indicates irregularities in funds allocation.
