Prisoner-run petrol bunk in Chanchalguda soon

After the successful run of petrol bunks in Rajahmundry, Warangal and YSR districts with prisoners, the government-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is planning to set up a petrol bunk at Chanchalaguda jail in Hyderabad.

It is known that these petrol bunks are operated by prisoners serving life term, which gives them a new lease of life. IOC has obtained all the required No Objection Certificate (NOCs) to open their bunk near Chanchalguda.

This petrol bunk will start operations by the end of this month. Prisoners would be paid Rs 100 a day and 30 prisoners who have a record of good conduct would be given this opportunity, one of the jail officials said.
