Post-Demonetization, GHMC Tops In Tax Collection
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) revenues went up by 2,500 percent this November over the corresponding period last year.
What triggered the windfall was the civic body's announcement that it will accept the old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 . Taking this opportunity, the people cleared the tax arrears.
The finance ministry, which analyzed the receipts of taxes at urban civic bodies, said that the revenue in cities skyrocketed by Rs 1,722 crore in November in comparison to Rs 489 crore in the same month last year
Hyderabad has seen 2,500 percent jump, North Delhi stood second with 2,432 percent surge, Surat comes third with 2,314 percent increase, while Rajkot has taken fourth position by 1,275 percent increase.
The finance ministry, which analyzed the receipts of taxes at urban civic bodies, said that the revenue in cities skyrocketed by Rs 1,722 crore in November in comparison to Rs 489 crore in the same month last year.
It also observed that Hyderabad topped the list again in actual cash flow with a record of Rs 206 crore in November. Ahmedabad stood second with collection of Rs 187 crore, Surat collected Rs 173 crore, Kalyan Rs170 crore and Mumbai Rs 167 crore.
