Poll fear haunts Congress; seeks MIM support?

Congress, taken aback by the sudden u-turn done by TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao on merger, is now scrambling to get the support of other parties in Telangana.
It is a known fact that a committee of senior leaders has been appointed to look into alliances in case a party approaches TRS. The committee has been authorised to decide all pre- or post-poll alliances.
On the other hand, KCR's son KTR has announced that they are ready to work with CPM if it is willing to come forward.
Reports indicate that TRS is lobbying to get the support of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) which has seven MLAs and one MP.
As there is no merger with TRS on the cards, Congress is hurrying to get MIM's support back. On Thursday, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana met MIM chief Akbaruddin Owaisi, and the latter said he will get back to Botsa after discussing with party members.
He reportedly told the MIM leaders that they will face the elections together.
It is worth mentioning here that MIM ended their 14-year-long alliance with Congress, few months back, by withdrawing both from the Congress-led UPA coalition at the Centre and the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh.
Now it remains to be seen whether MIM party will support Congress or not.
GHMC Mayor to quit, will participate in assembly elections
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain is all set to quit his mayor post in a day or two.
Speculations are rife that Hussain is planning to contest on MIM ticket for the upcoming assembly elections, and hence decided to quit the Mayor post.
