Four TDP MPs Join BJP; Cite AP Development As Reason
New Delhi: TDP Rajya Sabha MPs Sujana Chowdary, Garikapati Rammohan Rao, CM Ramesh and TG Venkatesh joined BJP in presence of its working president JP Nadda on Thursday. They also gave a letter to Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to merge their party into BJP in the Upper House.
Speaking to press persons during the occasion, Nadda said BJP's foundations in Andhra Pradesh had become stronger with the joining of TDP MPs. He said BJP was committed to Andhra Pradesh's development and the Centre would extend every form of help to the State.
Sujana Chowdary too underscored the same, pointing out that Andhra Pradesh required Centre's support to develop the State after bitter division. "The mood of the nation today is after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. Particularly, we felt it is a good platform to see the promises made during bifurcation are implemented. We want to work with coordination and cooperation with the Centre rather than engaging in a confrontation and conflict," he said, pointing out the reasons for ditching TDP.
In line with Sujana Chowdary's reasons, TG Venkatesh said Rayalaseema's development was the main reason why he chose to join BJP. Garikapati Rammohan Rao was not present in the meeting as he was suffering with an injury to his leg, but had given his consent to join BJP.
