TJS Deeksha For Telangana Martyrs On Sept 12
Hyderabad: Taking a dig at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi's (TRS) public meeting 'Pragati Nivedana Sabha,' Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) founder & Chief Prof. Kodandaram said that the people of the State were left with mere disappointment with the progress made in the State in the last four years. Speaking at a press conference here at the party office, the former Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) Chairman said that although the State was formed in demand for its autonomy on the region's ("Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu (Waters, Funds, Jobs)," there were no signs of development in several districts. The party Chief called for a Deeksha on September 12 in remembrance of the sacrifices made by the martyrs during the agitation for the State's bifurcation.
Prof. Kodandaram said that development was confined to the family of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's (KCR) family, after the formation of the State. "The promise of making a Dalit the Chief Minister of Telangana was not fulfilled. The government is working only for the benefit of one person, one family and a few contractors," he commented.
Telangana stands third among the States with the highest number of farmer suicides, while in the highest farm loans category, the State stood in the second spot, the TJS Chief said. The former Osmania University Professor observed that the government maintained that there were only 1.07 lakh vacancies in various departments, but in reality, there are around 2.5 lakh vacancies. "Only 25% of the rivers and irrigation tanks taken up under the Mission Kakatiya scheme were restored, whereas the government's promise of providing drinking water by August 15 with the Mission Bhagiratha was not fulfilled," he said.
TJS Contestants For Assembly Elections
Asked about the party's candidates for the Telangana Legislative Assembly elections in the context of the possibility of dissolution of the Assembly, Prof Kodandaram said that the list of contestants was ready. We are working on strengthening our cadres in Village and Booth levels.
