Chandrababu Using Central Funds For State Schemes: Daggubati

Senior politician Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao - Sakshi Post

Amaravati: Senior politician Daggubati Venkateshwara Rao lambasted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his strategy of wooing voters in the name of fight for Special Category Status (SCS) against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Chandrababu accepted special package instead of SCS, while the TDP was a BJP ally, he said.

Instead of staging protests and trying to provoke people of the state, Chandrababu should clarify on the status of the Polavaram project work, if he really cares about the state's welfare. "If Andhra Pradesh really received Rs 15,000 crores worth investments, why does Chandrababu demand funds from the Centre? Even before acquiring lands and providing facilities for the Vizag-Chennai corridor, how can Chandrababu seek central funds?" he asked.

Had the BJP government not merged the seven mandals into Andhra Pradesh, it would not have been possible to build the Polavaram project, Daggubati asserted. It is not possible to allot simulatneously Rs 10,000 crores of funds required for 10 national projects, he remarked.

"Press meets and protests are not a sign of good goverrnance. The state government did not submit the Detailed Project Reports (DPR), even after Union Minister Nitin Gadkari allotted Rs 60,000 crores for construction of roads. Clearly, Chandrababu took a U-turn for the sake of elections. Very soon, I will announce a decision on my political career. To facilitate discussions on the state's issues, I want to create a forum," he said.
