JD(S), Congress, BJP

Bengaluru: At a critical time when the fate of the Karnataka government lay in their hands, reports indicate that at least three Congress and two JD(S) MLAs have not yet surfaced after winning their seats. This has naturally, lent credence to the rumour that BJP is leaving no stone unturned in wooing MLAs of both these over to its side in order to reach the magic figure.

It has been widely reported that the Congress has struck a pact with Kumaraswamy Gowda, the JD(S) leader and former Prime Minister, Deve Gowda's son, agreeing to make him chief minister of Karnataka. The legislature party of JD(S), has meanwhile, thrown its weight behind Kumaraswamy, electing him as its leader at a hotel here.

JD(S) leaders expressed their disappointment at the 'no-show' of their legislators, Raja Venkatappa Nayaka and Venkata Rao Nath Gowda.

Speculation is rife that these legislators have crossed over to the BJP camp. Kumaraswamy Gowda, the CM-hopeful has accused the BJP of poaching JD(S) MLAs and offering huge sums of money.
