Kakinada: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabam was on Tuesday stopped by the police when he attempted to take out padayatra from his residence in Kirlampudi town here in the district. Kapu leaders and the supporters of Mudragada entered into an argument with the police personnel. The police officials camped in the village reiterated that no permission was granted to carry out padayatra.

Speaking to media persons, Mudragada clarified that he would organise the padayatra demanding BC status for the Kapu community, at any cost. Protesting against the government's attitude, supporters of the Kapu leader handcuffed themselves with black ribbons.

On Monday, YSRCP leader and former Minister Botcha Satyanarayana called on Mudragada at his residence and extended support to the Kapu agitation.
