Picnic Turns Tragic, 13 Drown, 2 Go Missing As Boat Capsizes In Lake

Picnic turned tragic for a family when the boat they were riding in capsized in Yerra Timmaraju (YT) lake in Guntakal mandal on Friday afternoon. As many as 13 persons drowned while at least two are feared missing. One girl miraculoursly survived the ordeal, but she is in a state of shock.

Among the dead are four women and two children. Sources said around 19 members, all from the same family, went on a picnic and a boat ride in the lake. The officials, on being informed about the tragedy, rushed to the spot and expert swimmers were roped into fish out the bodies.

Officials said that the search operations might be called off as the night has fallen and could be resumed tomorrow. The identify of the persons is not yet know.
