Patanjali Denies Ramdev’s Arrest Warrant Over ‘Beheading Remark’

Baba Ramdev - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Patanjali Ayurveda on Thursday denied reports of Baba Ramdev being summoned before a Rohtak court over the alleged 'beheading' remarks made by him last year. Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's remarks against those who refuse to say 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' had landed him in trouble with a court in Rohtak on Wednesday issuing a non-bailable arrest warrant against him. The court in Haryana issued the warrant as he skipped the court hearings multiple times.

"The remark had been presented wrongly. He has not been summoned," Patanjali Ayurveda spokesperson SK Tijarawala told to media.

Ramdev had made the remarks at a Sadbhawana Sammelan here in April last year, which was called to promote peace in the city that witnessed violence during the Jat quota stir. He had said that but for the rule of law he would have beheaded lakhs of people for refusing to chant 'Bharat mata ki jai'.

On March 2, the Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate Harish Goyal of the court issued summons to Ramdev after a complaint was filed by congress leader and former Haryana minister Subhash Batra seeking registration of an FIR against the yoga guru. On May 12, the court had issued a bailable warrant against Ramdev after he failed to appear in the court.

Goyal issued a non-bailable warrant following Rs1 lakh personal surety during the execution of warrant. The Assistant Chief Judicial Magistrate posted the next hearing for August 3.
