Parents Oppose Daughter’s Wedding, Threw Chilli Powder Into Boy’s Eyes, Kidnap Girl
Tirupati: In a shocking incident, parents of a recently-wed girl threw chilli powder into the eyes of a youth, who married their daughter against their wishes and whisked away the girl. The incident occurred in Thondivada village of Chittoor district on Monday.
According to the police, Navin Kumar, a house surgeon at Chandragiri Government Hospital, became friends with Sirichandana, also a medical student. They soon fell in love and married against the wishes of the girl's parents. Their wedding was solemnised on August 16. The girl's parents opposed the marriage as both the boy and the girl belonged to different castes.
On Monday, Sirichandana's parents and some others came in two four-wheelers and stopped Navin and Sirichandana, who were going on a bike. They threw chilli powder into his eyes and dragged away the girl.
Navin later went to the Chandragiri police station and lodged a complaint with them against Sirichandana's father Rajabhupal Reddy and others. He alleged that attempts were made on him earlier too and added that he had taken the help of Tirupati police to save himself.
