Owaisi Condemns Terror Attack On Amarnath Yatris; Questions BJP For “Failure”
Hyderabad: Condemning the terror attack on the Amarnath pilgrims, AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday asked the Modi government to explain why it failed to protect them despite intelligence warnings about a possible attack.
The Hyderabad MP told reporters here that he strongly condemned the attack as nobody had a right to kill innocent people. Stating that this was the second terror attack on Amarnath pilgrims after the BJP came to power, Owaisi demanded that the government should explain why it failed to ensure their safety despite intelligence warning which was carried by the media on June 26.
"The BJP is in power at the Centre and is also ruling Jammu and Kashmir along with the PDP. It is the moral responsibility of the government to tell people why they failed," said the Lok Sabha member.
He pointed out that Kashmiri terrorist Syed Salahuddin in an interview to The Telegraph had indicated that such attacks would be carried out. "It's time the BJP at the Centre does some course correction," he added.
He alleged that Salahuddin along with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) wanted to create a 2008-like situation in the Kashmir Valley. Slamming those trying to do politics over the killing of innocent pilgrims, Owaisi said they should not allow LeT and ISI to create problems.
"We should also keep in mind what China is doing on the Sikkim border." Referring to the arrest of one Sandeep Kumar from Uttar Pradesh for his links with the LeT outfit, the MP said it raised an important question. He also found fault with the Shiv Sena for linking the Amarnath Yatra with Haj pilgrims. He said if Shiv Sena was angry and upset over the terror attack, it should take out its anger on the government. He asked Shiv Sena to explain why it continued to support the BJP government when the latter failed to provide safety and security to the Amarnath pilgrims. — (IANS)
