Owaisi arrested for anti-Modi remarks

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has been arrested in Bihar's Purnia district. He was arrested from Baisi village after he made disparaging remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an election rally in Kishanganj.

Owaisi has been campaigning in Bihar's Muslim majority Seemanchal area in the ongoing assembly elections. He has also been booked for making objectionable comments against Narendra Modi on his Facebook account. His arrest comes even as the third phase of polling is underway in Bihar.
Owaisi is making a serious bid to garner Muslim votes and emerge as a serious player in Seemanchal, under which both Kishangunj and Purnia fall.
