Online Fraud: 4 Jharkhand Youth Arrested For Duping Hyderabadi Customers

Hyderabad: A four-member gang posing as SBI customer care executives duped several city residents to a tune of lakhs of rupees.

The quartet, identified as Babulal, Asin Kisk, Nibhash Mondal and Ramsundar, belonged to Jharkhand state. They have since been arrested by the cyber crime police.

The modus operandi of the accused was to call up SBI customers seeking credit card information, which they claimed was needed to be updated online. Gullible customers fell prey to them by revealing information pertaining to bank and credit cards. People realised that they were taken for a ride only after they got message of online transaction.

Following a complaint from a city resident, the Hyderabad cyber crime police registered a case and tracked the gang through call data to Jamtara district in Jharkhand state.

The cyber crime police arrested the accused with the help of the Jharkhand police and brought them to the city on a transit warrant on Monday. Speaking to media persons, DCP Janaki Sharmila urged the people not fall prey to such suspicious phone calls seeking credit card and bank details.
