The Goa chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar in the assembly on march 24 said it has taken no decision if December 25 would be observed as "Good Governance Day"which is an initiative promoted by the Bharathiya Janatha Party.

When questioned by Vijai Sardesai, independent legislator, if December 25 2015 would be observed as "Good Governance Day" the chief minister said "No decision in this matter has been taken" The  'Good Governance  Day' is a nation wide initiative, initiated by Narendra Modi lead NDA government in respect of Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary that is December 25.

The BJP core committee of leaders had asked the BJP ruled states to reinforce the same by reporting to work at least for a couple of hours and honor the protocol set by the central governmentLast year the centers efforts to get students to attend schools on December 25 went in vain and met with major objections. The minority communities too blamed NDA of derailing Christians sentiments who celebrate Christmas on December 25
The old Portuguese colony of india (Goa) still has it strong influences from the west and has a predominant population of 26% of Christians. The negative response from them pushed the Goa government to defy the initiative of observing "Good Governance Day".  Parsekar had said "We have informed our High Command that we will be unable to observe Good Governance Day on December 25. But we will do it before and after that day."
