Timeline of notable deaths on Hyderabad ORR

 - Sakshi Post

The recent tragic death of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA G. Lasya Nanditha in a fatal road accident has once again highlighted the bleak reality of accidents on Hyderabad's Outer Ring Road (ORR). Concerns regarding the safety protocols on this crucial section of road are being voiced as the city grieves the loss of a bright young leader.

MLA Lasya died tragically when the SUV she was travelling in lost control and collided with a divider on the Patancheru Outer Ring Road. The collision's impact proved deadly despite attempts to save her.

Data shows a concerning pattern of increasing deaths on the ORR, with a marked rise in deaths over time. In 2022, 170 lives were lost in accidents on the ORR, a number that surged to 216 in 2023, marking a staggering 127% spike. The depressing loss of MLA Lasya raises the ominous 2024 death toll.

But MLA Lasya's tragedy is not an isolated incident. Numerous well-known people have lost their lives in accidents at the ORR over the years, making it a notorious blackspot for mishaps. Politicians, actors, cricket players, the list of casualties serves as a sobering reminder of the risks associated with this particular stretch of road.
