Telangana:Two Omicron Cases Reported In Hyderabad

Covid-19: Telangana detects three cases of Omicron variant - Sakshi Post

HYDERABAD: Genome sequencing results of three international passengers who had arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), Shamshabad from at-risk countries, confirmed that they have the Omicron variant of COVID-19, health bulletin on Wednesday said.

The tests revealed that the two came from Somalia and Kenya and the third person was on transit to Kolkota. The matter was referred to the state of West Bengal. Family members of the infected people had been moved to isolation.

One was a 24-year-old female Kenya national and another was a 23-year-old male who had come from Somalia, while the third was a 7-year-old transit passenger who went to West Bengal. They have been isolated at the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Gachibowli. Dr G Srinivasa Rao, Director of Public Health, Telangana state said that they were from Mehdipatnam and ToliChowki areas in the city.

The DH said there was a risk of airborne Omicron infection however the State authorities are prepared to face the third wave. The DH asked people not to worry and that those infected with Omicron had minor symptoms.
