Hyderabad: The scrutiny of nomination papers filed by candidates for the Telangana Assembly elections ended on Monday. The election authorities rejected the nomination of senior leader Jana Reddy, who was a candidate from the Nalgonda Nagarjuna Sagar assembly constituency.

The senior Congress leader had filed his nomination papers as a precautionary measure. Jana Reddy’s son Jaiveer Reddy had also filed his candidature from the Nalgonda Nagarjuna Sagar assembly segment. After scrutinising the papers, the election authorities accepted Jaiveer’s nomination and rejected his father’s papers.

Similarly, the election officials rejected several nominations due to discrepancies in their nominations or to weed out duplicate candidatures. The officials rejected two nominations in Rajanna Sircilla, seven in Karimnagar, 3 in Kollapur of Nagar Kurnool district.
