Nalgonda: A woman and her daughter died when their house collapsed at Padma Nagar colony in Nalgonda town following heavy rain on Friday.

The victims were identified as Nadikudi Lakshmi (42) and her daughter Kalyani (21). According to locals, the deceased family migrated to Nalgonda from Srikakulam for better work prospects and were working as coolies at Nalgonda railway station.

The women were living in a small portion of an old house at Padma Nagar colony. Nalgonda has been receiving incessant rains for the past three days and it was suspected that the wall collapsed due to weakened structure.

Police who reached the spot upon receiving information from the locals recovered the victim bodies from the debris and shifted them to Nalgonda General Hospital for postmortem.
