Jewellery Store Heist Case: Rachakonda Police Arrest 4, Gold Recovered

The Rachakonda police on Wednesday arrested four persons in connection with the jewellery store heist case that occurred on December 1.

The police seized over 2,700 grams of gold worth Rs 13,59,000. They also seized Rs 65,500 in cash, 6 mobile phones, 3 country made pistols, 1 air pistol and bullets from the accused.

A Honda Activa, Pulsar along with four two-wheelers and a car were also seized from the accused.

Speaking to the media, Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said, ''They covered their faces when they came into the store and asked for the gold bag. When the shop owner resisted, they fired bullets at two people and ran. They fled on a Pulsar bike while another accused waited for them in the next lane on an activa. The three fled on the Activa.''

He further stated that Mahendra Kumar Chaudhary is the main accused in the case. “He is from Rajasthan. He set up a gold shop in Palakurthi a few years ago and later he opened a gold shop in Gajwel. Mahendra, who planned the robbery, brought the accused from Haryana and Delhi. Bansiram drove a Honda Activa during the robbery. The accused who came from Delhi was on his bike. Both Mahendra and Feroze waited at the Habsiguda bar during the heist. After the offense, accused Bansi Ram and Sumeet met Mahendra at Habsiguda and from there they went to Ramayampet, then to Palakurti and to Maharashtra.''

He said that they managed to recover 100 per cent of the gold stolen by the thieves and a hunt is on for the rest of the accused.
