Insightful Book Talk with Journalist Umesh Upadhyay Hosted By UOH Students Club
Hyderabad, 13th April 2024 - The Young Indic Social Thinkers Club of the University of Hyderabad organized an engaging book talk on Friday, featuring Shri Umesh Upadhyay, a distinguished journalist and author, as the chief guest. The event, held on the university campus, drew a significant number of students and faculty members.
Shri Umesh Upadhyay presented his debut book, "Western Media Narratives on India - From Gandhi to Modi," which critically examines how Western media has shaped and sometimes misrepresented the perception of India over the decades. During his address, Shri Upadhyay highlighted specific case studies from his book, providing clear and compelling evidence of the longstanding biases held by Western media against India.
The presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session, where students posed several thought-provoking questions. Shri Upadhyay engaged with the audience, offering deeper insights into the themes discussed in his book and reflecting on the broader implications of media representation on India's global image.
The event not only provided an opportunity for students to interact with an expert in the field of journalism and media analysis but also served as a platform for fostering a deeper understanding of international perspectives on India.
