Hyderabad: Four Self-styled Journalists Held for Blackmailing Businessman

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police arrested four self-styled journalists for allegedly blackmailing and extorting a businessman. THe Banjara Hills police have filed a case under various sections 447, 385, 386 and 506 read with 120 (B) of IPC. The police have launched an investigation in the case. 

According to police, a businessman named Manish Jain was constructing a house in plot number 117 in Kamalapuri Colony area. On June 4, the four fake journalists started making calls to Jain and started threatening him. 

The four self-styled journalists, who are accused of blackmailing a business in the city, are identified as Akula Kiran Goud, Sopala Srinivas, T Vijay Kumar, K Ravinder and others would make 20-30 phone calls to Jain and would demand from him. Unable to bear the harassment, the businessman approached the police and filed a complaint against them. 

The complainant said the fake reporters would trespass in his under-construction property, click pictures of construction activity and demand huge amounts of money while threatening to demolish the structure if their demand is not met. Jain claimed he had given Rs 12 lakh to the accused persons but they continued to harass him. He said due to the mental pressure from the callers, he even considered committing suicide.
