English Medium in Telangana Govt Schools Under Mana Ooru Mana Badi

Telangana State Government is all ready to launch ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ programme across the state in order to improve the existing infrastructure and the quality of education in government schools. The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday took various decisions so as to strengthen the education system in Telangana. A total of Rs. 7,289 crore has been allotted to strengthen government schools in Telangana as a part of ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ programme.

The cabinet also decided to bring in a new law for the regulation of fees in private schools, junior and degree colleges and also for the implementation of English medium in all the government schools. A sub-committee was also formed to study and prepare modalities for the new act. Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy will chair the sub-committee, Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, S Niranjan Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, Koppula Eeshwar, Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Errabelli Dayakar Rao will be the members of sub-committee.

In addition, the Cabinet approved plans for the state to establish a Women's University and a Forest University. Before the next Cabinet meeting, the Chief Secretary has been ordered to give full reports to the State government on both proposals.

It is all known knowledge that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has introduced English as the medium of instruction in all the government schools.
