Russian Jet Collides And Crashes US Surveillance Drone Over Black Sea

A Russian fighter jet on Tuesday collided with an American drone over the Black Sea causing it to crash. Reacting to the incident the US military slammed it as a  "reckless" manoeuvre by the Russian military.

US European Command said two Russian Su-27 fighters intercepted the unmanned MQ-9 Reaper, dumped fuel on it, and flew in front of the MQ-9 in a reckless, environmentally unsound, and unprofessional manner over international waters and one clipped its propeller.

Moscow however denied causing the crash of the drone. The Russian Defense Ministry added that the two Russian jets had no contact with the US aircraft and did not use their weapons.

The United States has been using uses MQ-9 Reapers drones for both surveillance and strikes over the Black Sea for quite some time and also to keep track of Russian naval movements. Meanwhile, the US State Department said it had summoned Russia's ambassador to protest over the incident. ( Inputs from NDTV)
