Queen Elizabeth II Death: King Charles III Will Be Proclaimed UK's New Monarch

 - Sakshi Post

King Charles III will be proclaimed UK's new monarch at an Accession Council to be convened at the earliest possible at St James’s Palace.

The special meeting of the Privy Council will be held within 24 hours of the death of a sovereign before Parliament meets. This is going to be King's first official event.

The solemn duties have been undertaken behind closed doors but for the first time, it will be televised.

The council will be presided over by Penny Mordaunt MP, Lord President of the Council, and divided into two parts.

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain's longest serving monarch, has died at 96. The royal family - the Queen's son and heir Prince Charles, grandsons William and Harry and their families - have gathered at her Balmoral retreat in the Scottish highlands, where she spent her last days.
