Anti-hijab Protests:Turkish Singer Cuts Off Hair On Stage In Support Of Iranian Women
Anti-hijab protests have spread across Iran for the eleventh day and led to the death of at least 40 people and more than 1400 arrested. Now the solidarity for Iranian women has spread outside the Islamic nation to Turkey after a popular singer cut her hair while performing on stage
Famous Turkish singer Melek Mosso cut her hair on stage in a show of solidarity with the anti-hijab protests sparked after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini who was arrested by the morality police of Iran over not wearing her hijab properly. Her family claim that she was beaten up in police custody and went into a coma and finally died. People cheered Mosso on as she cut her hair during a performance. The video was shared by journalist Omid Memarian based in the US of A.

Mosso has been a vocal advocate of women's rights in Turkey and was taken off stage in 2020 for criticising the release of a rapist police officer.
The United Nations Secretary-General called on Iran early on Wednesday to refrain from using unnecessary or disproportionate force against protesters across Iran's provinces and the capital of Tehran.Protests have spread across at least 46 cities, towns and villages in Iran.
