TS Anganwadi Centres To Be Shifted To Govt Schools
Hyderabad: As per Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Women and Child Development Minister Satyavathi Rathod, all Anganwadi centres now operating in rented buildings will be relocated and operated on government primary school grounds, and a special drive will be launched soon.
The ministers said that out of the total 35,700 Anganwadi centres, 15,167 were already operating on primary school grounds during a meeting with officials from the Women and Child Welfare and School Education Departments here on Thursday to discuss joint operations of Anganwadi centres and government primary schools.
They said that 11,185 centres have their own facilities, another 12,174 operate in buildings that are not rented, and 12,219 centres operate in rented structures. As a method of strengthening Anganwadi centres, the state government set them up on the grounds of government primary schools.
The announcement follows the government's attempts to expand nursery education as well as provide nutritional meals through Anganwadi centres. They claim that this will help students prepare for primary school when they finish the nursery.
