West Godavari: After Asteroid, Nidadavolu Girl Kunchala Kaivalya Reddy Discovers Planet Fragment

Kunchala Kaivalya Reddy, a class 10 student from Nidadavolu in West Godavari  has created yet another record.  A planet fragment was discovered in an important asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered in a worldwide campaign conducted under the International Astronomical Search Collaboration, a NASA recognised body. She was awarded a certificate by International Astronomical Search Collaboration. 

Kaivalya said that this asteroid was identified by analyzing the space shadow images taken with the help of Pan-STARRS using a special software. Kaivalya Reddy was trained by Samir Satyadev, the founder and president of Spaceport India Foundation, a Delhi-based voluntary organization and identified the fragment under the name of 'Gamma' team.

Earlier,Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy praised Kaivalya Reddy for discovering an asteroid between Mars and Jupiter. He announced a cash incentive of Rs 1 lakh for her.
