Trouble Brews in Andhra BJP, Purandeswari Called to Delhi

 - Sakshi Post

Vijayawada: Tension is brewing in Andhra Pradesh BJP over the seat allocation for the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state. The Andhra BJP leaders met the party high command and complained to them about the alleged injustices done to the loyalists of the saffron party.

As per the reports, the party loyalists were not in favour of forging an alliance with the TDP and Jana Sena for the elections. After BJP formally joined the TDP-led pre-poll alliance, the seat allocation issue cropped up in the party circles. It is said that the party loyalists are not happy with the leadership as it gave tickets to leaders who crossed over from the TDP and are close to Chandrababu Naidu.

Andhra BJP leaders apprised the high command that the TDP had a role in the selection of seats for the saffron party aspirants. The state BJP leaders met Shiv Prakash, national joint general secretary of BJP in the national capital and apprised him of the current situation in the party. They told him that the TDP has vacated the constituencies which it failed to win for over two decades. They also questioned the involvement of Naidu in deciding the seats for the BJP aspirants.

Earlier, some party leaders had written to the national BJP president JP Nadda to air their grievances regarding the seats distribution. It is reported that the BJP high command has called the state BJP chief D Purandeswari to discuss the party affairs. The Parliamentary Board of the BJP is holding a meeting today. It is expected that the national party leaders may discuss the political situation in the state, ticket distribution and selection of candidates for the upcoming polls with the Andhra BJP chief in the meeting.
