TDP Office In AP Served COVID-19 Notice Over ‘Mahanadu’ Meet

AMARAVATI: The Mangalagiri Mandal Revenue Officer on Wednesday issued a COVID-19 notice to the Telugu Desam Party office located in Amaravati advising the office managers to take adequate preventive measures during its proposed ‘Mahanadu’ meet as part of the initiatives to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The Atmakur Village Revenue Officer handed over the notice to the TDP office secretary Ramani to this effect. The notice read, "At present, there is a ban on political events and other gatherings in view of the coronavirus pandemic. If any violations of lockdown norms are found, then you will be eligible for action under the Disaster Management Act 2005."

As part of the nationwide lockdown measures, all mass gatherings of social, sports, religious, entertainment, academic, cultural and political nature remain banned to curb the spread of coronavirus. Even though the Centre and state governments have eased some of the lockdown restrictions, the curbs are being maintained in many areas where large gatherings of people can compound the pandemic situation.
Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday seeking orders to file a case against Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly violating lockdown norms during his journey from Hyderabad to his residence in Undavalli.
The petition contended that Chandrababu showed utter disregard for preventive measures which forbid mass gatherings during the lockdown and acted in a way to add to the risk of a further spread of the highly infectious novel coronavirus.
