'Pawan Acquired Illegal Assets By Cheating People'

Vijayawada:  Former Jana Sena leader and firebrand YSRCP member Pothina Venkata Mahesh questioned the claim of Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan who had earlier said that he was a common man. He claimed that Pawan Kalyan has bought several immovable properties as benami assets and under benami transactions. 

Highlighting the soaring assets of Jana Sena leader, Pothina Mahesh remarked that according to the  affidavit submitted by Pawan Kalyan, his assets have seen 191 percent growth during the last five years. Pawan declared that his family assets including movable properties are valued at Rs 163 crore while his 2019 affidavit shows that the actor-turned-politician owned properties with Rs 56 crore. 

Addressing a media conference in Vijayawada on Thursday, the YSRCP leader said that Pawan Kalyan should tell the people about the unusual growth in his assets as he had claimed in the past that he was staying in a regular apartment.

Alleging that Pawan Kalyan floated the party to acquire wealth, Pothina Mahesh said that the Jana Sena leader is living a luxurious life while the janasainiks are toiling hard to strengthen the party’s base at the grassroots level. He also claimed that the Jana Sena leader purchased a land parcel worth Rs 100 crore near the party office in Mangalagiri. 

He demanded that the details of properties owned by the relatives of Pawan Kalyan baring actors father-son duo Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan should be made available in the public domain. He added that the Jana Sena leader must explain the source of income as he has declared in the poll affidavit that he has 28 crores worth fixed deposits (FD) and 48 crore liabilities.
