Mild Earthquake Triggers Panic In Prakasam District Of AP

PRAKASAM: Mild tremors were felt for two minutes in Ongole town of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning. People ran out of their homes in fear. Some of the locals said that they have experienced the impact of tremors in Gaddalakunta, Devudi Cheruvu and even in Mamidipalem village of Prakasam district.

According to the National Center for Seismology reports, a mild earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter Scale was felt in Ongole city of Prakasam district at 10:15 in the morning.  The tremors were felt at Ambedkar Bhavan, NGO Colony, Sharma College, Sundaraiah Bhavan road in Ongole city.
 
Around the same time, parts of Jharkhand and Karnataka were also jolted by an earthquake. The earthquake occurred at 6.55 am at Jamshedpur and Jharkhand with a magnitude of  4.7. Low-intensity earthquake of magnitude 4 jolted Karnataka and Hampi.  No casualties were reported till now.
 
On Thursday, June 4, Delhi was rocked by a low-magnitude earthquake. Before this, a 3.2-magnitude tremor hit Delhi, Noida and their surrounding areas around 10:42 pm on Wednesday night, June 3.

Due to its low intensity, no casualties or any visible damage was reported from any of these places. Announcing the quake, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said that "an earthquake of magnitude 3.0 struck 17 km east of Faridabad (Haryana) at 10:42 pm today (Wednesday)."
