AP CM YS Jagan Flags Of 500 Dr Thalli Bidda Express Vehicles For Expectant Mothers

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday flagged off 500 ‘Dr. YSR Thalli Bidda Express’ vehicles at Benz Circle here on April 1. These fully Air-conditioned vehicles are meant to provide free transport to pregnant women, mothers, and infants safely back home.

The Government has embarked on a program to bring Post Natal women home safely and comfortably after delivery from Government Hospitals. The State Government has launched 500 Thalli-Bidda express vehicles. These vehicles have replaced the old ones which were in existence since the TDP regime.

An average of four lakh deliveries take place every year in 1,057 Government hospitals across the state. Expectant and pregnant women are brought from home to the hospital in the 108 ambulance vehicle. The Government has made provisions to provide quality medical services and WHO-certified drugs free of charge. Based on the number of deliveries in the respective hospitals these express vehicles are allotted and can be called through the 102 call center services.

A special app is also available for coordinating between nurses in hospitals and vehicle drivers when ferrying expectant mothers from their homes.

The patient, delivery, and hospital details are recorded in the Maternal and Child Care Portal. Those details are linked to the app and steps are taken to move the babysitter home safely. From the time the mother and baby are shifted into the vehicle, the driver has to upload a photo in this app after dropping her at home.

These vehicles are enabled with a GPS tracking facility to ensure their safety. The State Government is paying the mother Rs 5,000 for various needs under the Dr. YSR Aarogya Asara after childbirth.

As stated on the AP Government website for health, medical and family welfare, the reduction of Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rates (IMR) are given high priority by the Government. Providing referral transport to pregnant women is one of the interventions for the reduction of MMR. In order to ensure the provision of drop-back service to every pregnant woman from the hospital to home, a dedicated fleet of 500 vehicles has been positioned across the State.

Thalli Bidda Express is a  dedicated vehicle service to transport pregnant/expectant mothers who deliver at Government hospitals. 

This service is coordinated by 102 call center which operates 24 X 7. 

A vehicle is arranged within 30 minutes of a request.

This service provides safe and hygienic  means of transportation and will contribute to the reduction in MMR and IMR 

Pregnant women are provided drop-back services between 8 AM to 6 PM.

Postnatal women, the child, and one attendant are transported from the Government facility to home.
